  • After we win:30 pm – Parade to the band hall. (Make sure you properly hang up your uniform for a big day tomorrow)
  • GO HOME:30 pm – Head home and get some much needed rest because we have a very early departure time tomorrow.

Saturday, October 3, 2015

  • 3:15 am – WAKE UP to Pharrell’s “Happy”.
  • 3:30 am – ARRIVE at the band hall that you just left close to about six hours ago.
  • 3:45 am – Walk the red carpet to your yellow Lamborghini provided by the AWESOME Dickinson I. S.D transportation department.
  • 4:00 am – PEEL OUT OF THE BAND LOT achieving Mach 1. (Due to the governors on the Lamborghini’s, Mach 1 is now redefined as 65 mph)
  • 4:10 am – The yellow Lamborghini’s provide such a smooth ride that you are lulled to sleep.
  • 5:20 am – You wake up from a brief siesta to sing with the soundtrack of “Can’t Hold Us” by Macklemore playing in your head.
  • 5:30 am – We ARRIVE to a crowd of crazed fans cheering “Go Gators!” and we push through security to grab our muffin and juice. As to be expected, we graciously decline autographs and throw away any trash that we might have.
  • 6:30 am – We mobilize ourselves for a very organized and disciplined warm-up.
  • 6:40 am – We WARM-UP our “musical jedi minds” to connect with Master-Mr. Mac-Yoda-Obi Wan Kenobi and use our best air to create our best sounds. (That’s Mr. Mac’s real full name. He just likes to go by Mr. Mac.)
  • 7:45 am – We take the field and PERFORM with FUNdamentals that The Blue Devils would be proud of and play with the sound of the Berlin Philharmonic.
  • 8:00 am – As we EXIT THE FIELD, we are greeted by Donald Trump saying, “Gator Band, that was HUGE!”.
  • 8:15 am – Security doubles to protect us as we exit the field and head back to the load truck. We need to LOAD as efficiently as we can so that we can head to Carl Barton Park for lunch provided by Perry’s. (Kidding, but we are going to Hermann Park)
  • 10:30 am – We screech into the lot of Carl Barton Park. Again, the heavens part, the harps play, and the angels sing as Chick-Fil-A begins to fall from the sky. (Make sure you thank the band parents for their hospitality and time)
  • 11am – 1 pm – We feast like kings on Chick-Fil-A in the park. HPD has already been made aware of our arrival and even secures our air space with an HPD helicopter.
  • 1:00 pm – BEFORE we DEPART, we ALWAYS dispose of our trash because the Gator Band is the epitome of class.
  • 2:30 pm – Our helicopter escort follows us all the way back to the Conroe Stadium where we SIT TOGETHER, politely applaud and support the remaining eight bands performing in the preliminary round.
  • 5:00 pm – The AWARD ceremony begins. Again, we show the epitome of class. In the event that we make the finals, we will stay and await further instruction. If we perform early, we will eat dinner after our performance. If we have a late performance time, we will eat right away. Please make sure that we sit together so that we can all receive the instructions together. If we do not make the finals, we will load and return home.
